The mission of this ministry is to make our senior adults feel welcomed and valued, to encourage every senior to use their spiritual gift, and to reach out to our senior community for Christ. We do this by nurturing and encouraging in several ways.
Al Scott has been a teacher of all age levels for over 35 years. Now a senior himself, he teaches the Grand People each Sunday morning with insight into their needs and the application of Scripture to their lives.
Jerry Hamilton, a member of the pastoral staff, has been teaching the Second Half class for 15 years. “It is like taking a college course to sit in this class,” a class member commented, but it isn’t stuffy academics. It is life-related Bible truth.
Weekly hospital or care center visitation is designed to support and encourage those with physical needs. There is also frequent contact with those who can’t participate in the regular church services.
Fellowship opportunities include an annual fall leaf color tour, museum visits, Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners, as well as other activities seniors enjoy. Whatever the activity, it seems like eating somehow finds its way into what we do.
We understand that seniors experience a unique set of blessings and challenges. As a critical part of our church, we hope to make you feel like a valued member of the family of God, whatever your physical circumstances.
Come join us, and see how the Lord can bless your senior years!
